Our MicroClime environmental plate protection technology is incorporated into a unique microplate lid that minimizes edge effects and preserves the concentrations of solutions in standard SBS-format microplates. Unlike standard microplate lids, the MicroClime® lid incorporates a fluid-absorbing matrix that the user fills with the primary solvent in their sample plates (e.g. water, DMSO, etc.) As the fluid in the lid evaporates, it fills the air above the wells with vapor. This vapor acts as a barrier, protecting the samples from the exterior environment, especially near the edges of the microplate. When filled with anhydrous DMSO, the MicroClime lid prevents DMSO hydration in compound library plates, and it stops evaporation of ultra-low-volume droplets in screening assays. The lid can also be filled with water to prevent evaporation in aqueous assays.
