GX™ Nanoliter Dispenser

Save Money, Increase Throughput
The Labcyte GX Nanoliter Dispensers provide high-speed, low-volume non-contact dispensing based on the proprietary Deerac™ Technology. These systems are particularly well-suited for preparation of low volume genomics assays. They are high precision eight and one channel pipetting instruments designed to dispense valuable reagents used in wide range of genomic applications.

The systems can be configured to dispense into one or two well plates as well as having multiple reagent reservoirs and wash stations for adding amplification enzymes or DNA depending on the customer requirements.

High Throughput Assay Assembly
The GX system provides high throughput, low dead-volume liquid handling for a wide range of applications using the proprietary Deerac Technology. The GX system is easily configured to meet the specific requirements of the user’s assay by interchanging multiple reservoirs and stirring devices. Being able to interchange the layout of the reservoirs on the deck on the GX system ensures that the liquid handling system meets the requirement to be flexible and adaptable to a wide number of assays in 96-, 384-, and 1536-well plate format. The GX system meets the needs of high throughput labs using automated plate handling robots or stackers.

Deerac Technology Benefits

  • Wide volume range 50nL to 50µL
  • Applications in Sequencing and Genotyping for additions as low as 250nL.
  • Low dead volume. The 8 channel pipettor provides a very low dead volume in comparison to other 8, 96 or 384 head devices.
  • High throughput capability.
  • With an aspirate capability of 8mls in total, a large number of wells can be filled per aspirate cycle.
  • The GX systems can also be integrated with a wide array of stackers and other robotic equipment for full walk away automation.
  • FastWash mechanism allows for rapid washing of dispense tips.
  • Disposable reservoirs enable easy exchange of mixes or reagents.
  • Non contact dispense of reagents eliminates cross contamination and reduces washing steps thus improving efficiency and throughput.
  • Simple software package. Spot-station software is intuitive and easy to use and set up time is in minutes.
  • Independent channel control enables gradient dispensing and multi- reagent dispensing. Excellent tool for developing assays for scaling up or down by using concentration gradients. All controlled through software.
  • Gradient function and wide dynamic volume range enables serial dilution and other concentration gradients to be performed. This is all controlled through simple software method set-up.
  • Spotting of liquids. Software functionality enables liquids to be spotted in patterns onto flat surface for arraying or multiplex assays.

Any well, Any volume

The PlateMap Function in the GX control package enables users to specify volumes to be placed into individual wells of a target plate according to their needs. A predefined dispense pattern may be imported from a file or input directly into a spot station method.

The Platemap feature has many benefits for the user:

  • Complex or non-linear dispense patterns can be easily accomplished
  • Selected wells can be skipped saving on reformatting steps
  • Volume gradients and backfill operations can be easily performed – a great tool for assay development.

Active Wash Station for GX System

deeracgx4The Active Wash Station consists of a weir wash station with 8 holes with an inlet and outlet port at the bottom. A peristaltic pump supplied with the Active Wash Station continuously pumps wash liquid from a source bottle to the inlet port on the weir and subsequently up through the 8 holes (allocated to each tip on the 8 channel device) and the liquid overflows back down inside the station where it is drained through the outlet port connected to a waste bottle.

deeracgx5During a wash cycle fresh wash solution is continually pumped through the system and washing of the tips internally and externally occurs as a result. The level of acceptable carryover dictates the number of wash cycles to be implemented. Levels below 1 in 10,000 parts are typically achieved within five cycles.

FastWash Station for GX system

The FastWash provides rapid washing of the fluid path from the inside, for use when external washing with the ActiveWash is not required. Using the FastWash reduces carryover below 1 in 110,000 parts within 60seconds.
The principle of the wash procedure is highlighted in the diagram below.
On initiation of the wash program an automatic switching valve links the pipetting tips to a pressurized bottle containing the desired wash solution and the valves on the pipetting tips are opened to allow a flush through of wash liquid over a programmed time. This is controlled through the spot station software on the GX system and parameters including time and volume can be programmed accordingly.
